How can I promote my green auction site?

I am looking for the best value for money to promote my green auction and classified site where people buy and sell solar, renewable energy, biomass, carbon offset products, etc. - plus a lot more. It is 100% free - no catches, just an honest free service. I advertise using google adwords but it is pretty expensive. we have added lots of links to other sites and have a discussion site and a blog. We have been working with SpoonFeeder.com so that customers can list using the software they use to list on ebay. So all in all I think (and so do the people who use it) it is a great site - but i just need more people to visit and use - any ideas please? oH and the site - http://www.EnergyBook.co.uk or http://www. WXTrade.com They both work - many thanks - regards Richard

  1. Have you set up a blog discussing green issues? That could be used to drive traffic to your auction site.
  2. search engines
  3. Like Daniel 536259 said, setting up a blog and/or forum would be a really good way of getting the website known and to get people talking about it. I would google 'search engine optimization' aswell. But good luck with the website as I had a browse though it and I thought is was pretty cool! This is what people need. An online auction site that only lists environmentally friendly products. Nice one! :D
  4. viral advertising i.e. word of mouth forwarding text message SEO on google, yahoo, ask.com, msn, microsoft PPS/PPC online banners and pop ups on relevant websites used by your target audience. leaflets through doors put your business in a directory like yell.com if in UK a website a blog facebook, myspace, bebo, hi5 magazines, local newspapers advertising i.e. adshells, banners, posters, direct mail, ambient media
