what is/are the best techniques for winning or sniping an ebay auction?

I keep losing ebay auctions from getting beat by savy bidders... how can I close the win?

  1. Bid within the last minute of auctioning. This always works for me :)
  2. check every day if someone bid higher than u and on the last hour of the last day check every few minutes
  3. Remember to use $ and cents.
  4. Either use a free auction sniping tool (plenty on the web) goofbay /or do it manually in the last say 5 seconds. If you show your hand too soon, and only chip away at the top bid by the next increment; and the other bidders are doing that also- you are all pushing the price up. Always better to place 1 bid (your maximum) in the last 5 (or hone it down to 3)seconds Then if you are still outbid; it means the other bidder was willing to pay more for it than you. Either way the highest bid wins Sometimes if there is 1 bid of say 1.00, I might bid 2.00 to see if the 1st bidder bid higher than the 1.00 opening bid- then I leave it and they may outbid me a little further on with say 3.00.(but now they may have put in a highest bid of 6-7.00, but it only shows as 3.00) So I snipe in the last seconds with 10.16 (pence/or cents is always good) in the hope that I will then get it for 7.00 and a few pence. He was willing to pay 7.00. I was willing to pay 10.16 and got it for just over 7.00 Dosent matter what time/day you place your bid THE HIGHEST BIDDER WINS Hope that was not too confusing!
  5. Use the Ebay toolbar. http://www.offcost.com/ebay
  6. You might want to try a free site I use to find inexpensive items on eBay that are getting ready to end. The site is http://www.auctionsunderabuck.com - I wait until there is about 5-10 seconds left in the auction and get a lot of great bargains - even on eBay!
