What is an Ebay Auction Sniper and a Bid Blocker?

- An eBay auction sniper is someone who waits until the last few seconds of an auction before placing a bid. There are services(hidbid.com, Bidball.com, etc.) and software (jbidwatcher, etc.) that automate this process, you just schedule your bid and go about your day. I saw that there is a "bid blocker" video on YouTube but I did not watch it. I don't see how someone outside of eBay could block bids from being placed on items, so I'm not sure as to the legitimacy of that. Supposedly a bid blocker can block any attempted bids on an item. So, from what I understand the claim to be, you bid on an item that you want and then somehow activate the bid blocker so that no one else will be able to bid on the item, so you win at a lower price.
