Simple Ebay Question?
Just started to use ebay a week ago. Why is it that sometimes when I bid, I am instantly outbid by someone else? I enter 25, they enter 25.1, etc. Is this rigged by the seller or is a buyer using software to automatically outbid? It's very annoying.

- What happens is... the bid currently is at 50p when another person bids say £10 it only shows up as for example 75p and will keep adding on until it reaches £10. I am sorry but i am unable to tell the name of the system other than what i have said.
- ie someone has setup automatic bidding. try bidding at last second like 8-9sec before ending, make sure to click "confim bid" before 5-6 sec. then you are most likely to win.
- Ebay uses bots that will automatically bid in each bidder's favor until it reaches their maximum amount. When you bid, it asks for your maximum bid (the highest amount you are willing to pay). The bot will automatically bid for you when needed until it has reached your maximum bid. Here's a scenario: You see a DVD that you want. The bidding will start at 0.01. Nobody has bid yet. When you place a bid, it asks you what your maximum bid is. You are willing to pay 10 for the DVD, so you enter a maximum bid of 10. If you are the only one who bids on the DVD, you still get it for 0.01. However, if someone else bids, the bot will increase your bid to a higher amount until it reaches 10. If another bidder enters a maximum bid of, say, 10.50, the bot assigned to them will automatically outbid you. If that person only enters a maximum bid of 6.00, and nobody else bids higher than that, you get the DVD for 6.00.
