Building an online auction website?
I want to build an online auction website like eBay, I need to be secure, reliable, easy to use and update. Does anyone have any recommendations on good auction software? All genuine advice welcomed.

- You do realise that you are looking at an initial investment of at a minimum, tens possibly hundreds of thousands of dollars? You need to be a licenced auctioneer/secondhand goods seller in the country where you set up, you need a server farm to get the bandwidth if it is successful, and quite a large staff (twenty-four hour support to be competitive). You will need professional indemnity insurance the same as any business dealing in sales and financial transaction, and money for initial advertising. You can't just spam everyone to try and get clients - you will be very quickly shut down. It needs real life media advertising - magazines, international media etc. Also they usually take years before they start making real profits - that means making payroll, lease payments, paying for hardware etc., out of start up funds. It is not a "do it from home" proposition.

- Don't bother. You'll never make any real money. There are many sites trying to compete with ebay with high budgets that have failed because ebay have cornered the market. Try creating automated cash generating websites selling affiliate products
