why would people be bidding more on an item they can "buy it now" for less (ebay-windows xp)?
why would people bid more on this http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Window-s-XP-Professional-Edition-c-w-SP2-and-COA-2_W0QQitemZ220366168477QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Computing_Software_Software_SR?hash=item220366168477&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1690|66%3A2|65%3A12|39%3A1|240%3A1318 if they could buy it straight away at a lower pirce from this http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/GENUINE-XP-COA-SP2_W0QQitemZ180330773415QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Computing_Software_Software_SR?hash=item180330773415&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1690|66%3A2|65%3A12|39%3A1|240%3A1309 and he has more feedback so more trustworthy can anyone tell me why? joshhhhhh you are such an idiot your one of the people i really hate on yahoo answers you look at the question and answer it without looking at the details :@:@

- They are either dumb.. OR Very competitive
- because people are STUPID trust me the number of stupid people on ebay is just.... i mean they don't research and assume things are cheap coz it's on ebay
- Not everyone researches as well as you I guess. They might just not have come across the second one.
- probably them or a friend bidding it higher , so you basically have to buy it now for the price they want
- All Of The Above! (Except the one dumb answer, which by the way if you get found out forcing the bidding up for someone else is enough to get you banned and in some legal systems is fraud!)
- Your response to Josh.... is actually not warranted. Both these are most probably genuine as it is not just the feedback score any aware buyer looks at. eBay however is full of scams on things like mobile phones & lap tops. 132 lap tops have just been sold by one scam seller for £49.95 each all of them ending at the same time. All the buyers got was a link to an e-book. The forums now have plenty of woe stories from scammed buyers of these. Another scam is to get an acquaintance (or even yourself on another id) to bid up items in the hope of pushing genuine buyers higher and higher. So don't dismiss any possibility when it comes to eBay as even if they haven't been tried already there is always some scammer out there you'll soon think of it.
- This is just down to the plain stupidity of people. I was recently flamed by another ebay user because I placed lots of bids on various copies of XP thus forcing him to up his ante. He had hoped to pick up XP-Pro for £10, and was cussing me for my multiple bids. He eventually "won" two copies following my technique and both were above what I could buy them for retail. I did the honourable thing and mailed him a link to Ebuyer a few days after the auction had ended. LMAO
