What are some tips for eBay auction snipers?
Like, what's a safe amount of time to leave before the snipe and what's a good one to use? Thanks. There's an item that pretty much means more to me than the world. Does my computer need to be on? I live in Australia, so my net's not that fast, but I do have broadband.

- 3 seconds. And make sure you have a fast internet connection.
- place a bid early, then when the auction is almost over, you can do a one click bid with a second or two left to snipe the item you want.
- Once it's within an hour of the auction end, you can select "One Click Bidding" which will open a small pop up window. Then you can keep clicking refresh in that window. I would wait to bid until it's within the last minute if your computer can handle that. Bid as much as you would be willing to bid and hope that someone else doesn't have a maximum bid set that is higher then that. Ebay will only bid up as high as you need to win the item. If you are willing to pay up to $101, and you bid that but the other bidder only bids $48, you will only bid $49. Now, it could be that the other person has decided that item is worth $102 to them and it could say that you've been outbid before you get to bid again. Look at what that kind of item has ended for recently to decide what it will probably go for and how high you can bid. Sometimes you just can't win them.
- You can use free online software to make snipes for you. That way you don't have to be on the computer at the exact moment it ends. Try Gixen. They are not 100% reliable, but close.
