How does bid sniping on ebay work?
I understand it bids during the last seconds. Does it just bid once given the bid that you tell it to? Or does it keep bidding the minimum bid until it reaches the your maximum bid that you tell it. I'm using myibay.com. In other words, if 2 people are using sniping software, one guy enters $30, the other guy $40 as a max bid. Will it sell for $40 or the minimum bid after $30? Thanks in advance.

- A bid snipe, automated or manual, is a proxy bid placed seconds before the end of the auction. It will be bidding against any other proxy bids placed before or after, so the price should end up one increment above the next-best proxy bid. With sniping so well known now, the usefulness deteriorates, the only real advantage compared to placing your maximum bid earlier, is that it avoids the tyre-kicking bidders, but any item worth sniping at is likely to be the subject of a snipe war.
