How do I go about selling my old versions of Windows XP?
I have a retail copy of Windows XP Home and an OEM of Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005 that I am no longer in need of and wish to put up for bid on eBay. These copies have been installed and activated, but are no longer in use since I bought the full version of Windows Vista on an empty hard drive, so I was wondering if there is a way for the license to get transferred to another computer so my winning bidders will be able to install and activate the software. Is there something I need to do before putting it on sale, like contacting Microsoft, etc?

- In the last year, microsoft stopped selling new WPA codes. So you can no longer use another person's C.D. and just buy a product key from mircrosoft. The only way to really go about doing this is to sell the H.d. as well. But, then it has to be compatilble, the boot files correct and so on and so forth. Really, its not worth the trouble. If you can find somone with the same exact system as you, then I would say you can sell the H.d. with the o.s. to them. But really, just keep them as a backup, or extra storage. Its not really worth the trouble. I sell XP Pro, and Media Center all day long for 50 bucks to 100 one with an already used Key code, is not worth anything. - I would sell it anyways.. Don't worry about having to sell the hard drive with it.. If you don't put in a line in your auction saying something like "to comply with microsoft's policies a untested piece of hardware is included with this auction", then microsoft could get your auction removed from ebay.. I would suggest you put that line in the auction, but then don't even worry about including the harddrive or other piece of hardware. Most sellers on ebay, just put that line in and then sell the software by itself w/ no harddrive, or any other hardware..
