Where is a good place to buy vintage cameras, other than ebay?

So I have just gotten fed up with ebay snipers outbidding me at the last second. I refuse to use the sniping program because it is unfair. I love old cameras and love collecting them, not so much for the dollar value but because I enjoy looking at them and using them. I live on an island where there really aren't any antique stores or thrift stores. I often browse Shopgoodwill.com and Keh.com. Where else online can I find a place that sells or auctions vintage cameras?

  1. Some of the Photo mags have listings for collectors and sellers of vintage cameras. I know Shutterbug mag does. Also some of the big New York camera houses like Adorama, and B&H have classic camera departments. Their websites have listings too. Also, I,ve found some nice stuff at flea markets, and swap meets, Look for listings for estate sales. A lot of times you can find a treasure there.
  2. go to yahoo search type buy vintage camera
  3. Try looking at a local camera repair store. They usually have a lot good cameras, including vintage ones. You may have to travel to a larger city to find what you are looking for.
  4. One of my favorite shopping choices is using my local Craigslist. There, you can contact the LOCAL seller directly, and actually meet them face-to-face. That gives you a chance to test out the equipment. I've personally bought several lenses that way. You would also post a 'wanted' ad there and wait for responses. Hope this helps.
