How do you create a color border around a photo?

I want to apply a red border around my photos. I have Photoshop Elements and I have tried everything & nothing works! I have read the book and what it says doesn't work. The drop down menus don't match. I finally 'painted' a stripe on but it is jagged & doesn't look right. There must be a simple way to add a nice border to a photo. I would like a simple red, but would even love to be able to create borders like they did in this auction photo: http://cgi.ebay.com/Angels-Around-Us-Protection_W0QQitemZ6241034832QQihZ010QQcategoryZ35824QQcmdZViewItem I emailed the lady to find out. She is chinese & told me her son does it & he's away at school, but that it was from a free software off the internet. Does anyone know the best software & how to get a nice border. Thanks! I have Photoshop ELEMENTS, not Photoshop. Thanks!

  1. Well, I'm not sure if this is what you're looking for, but you can do this with simple MS Paint. Just open the photo with paint, select the square/rectangle tool from the lefthand side (the one with no fill) and your color. Then you put your mouse at the top lefthand corner of the photo until it says (0,0) at the bottom of the screen. Click and drag and a red rectangle should be around your picture. Good luck!

  4. You can make the border in flash or power point paste your photo in them.
  5. double click the background layer and convert it to layer 0 (you cannot make a border easily for a background layer) now go to edit , find stroke and in the popup thing choose the color you want and enter how thick you want it to be (like 40 px) color borders are easy to make too, there are so many ways to do it. I am too sleepy now, i can tell you tomorrow im me if you want grell_mondschein@yahoo.com Cheers!
  6. If your photos are going to be displayed on the Net and you can edit the HTML, just add style="border-width:2px; border-color:red" to the img element. Otherwise, go into any good image editing application and increase the canvas size (not the photo size) by twice as many pixels as the border you want, drag your photo into the center and fill the whitespace around the photo with whatever color you want. BTW: The GIMP (which is free/libre) is much better than Photoshop Elements if you want a more advanced app.
  7. just download Picasa 2 from google its free for starters, it has loads of borders.
