I want to start an auction site that raises money for charity?

...i take a VERY small percentage of the money won/donated, the rest goes to a selected charity. I can't find the software to help me do this, any ideas?

  1. how smaller %
  2. if you are in the uk you need to get registered first of all with the charities commision and they will have to issue you with a charitable registration number. From that they can advise you re the way you go about being authorised and able to legally take a percentage for admin etc. Dont know of any software though. sorry..
  3. Ebay has thought of it already don't waste your time and money If you want to buy auction software look on Ebay I've seen it for $50
  4. Does auction site software exist to buy? I always assumed it was proprietary code built and maintained by a dedicated team. Why not just make a web page with some spiel about your charity and include an online payment facility?
  5. the software can no doubt be designed. get in touch with a software designer. it doesn't really matter that ebay has thought of this.... if you think it is a good idea go for it!
  6. Previous answerer is incorrect - you cannot register with the Charity Commission if you are not a charity. You cannot advertise as fundraising for charity unless you state clearly what %age of your takings are going to which charities - see the Charity Commission website for the rules on this. I think the charities you are donating to would want to be consulkted before you raised funds in their name.
  7. The simplest way to do this is just use E-bay and then give them a cheque.
